  • Good slider, Mobile tracker, Decent camera
  • Non-responsive keypad, Sluggish user interface, Low battery life
  • View SpecificationsIts an unfortunate fact of life that theres usually little to get worked up about Samsung phones. The Samsung D840 seems to be a rather unnecessary clone of the D900 – it manages to look like its predecessor in many respects...

  • 7mm slimmer than the Shine. Intuitive controls. Beautiful screen.
  • Aerial performance is poor. Camera merely average. UI is a little childlike.
  • A Shine that the boys can be seen with, although its camera and aerial need to build a bit of muscle ...

  • Attractive design; expandable microSD slot
  • Lack of auto-focus on the camera; flat keypad can be awkward to use; no FM radio; no 3.5mm adaptor
  • The Samsung D840 is an attractive slider phone that looks like it was partly designed by Mercedes. Unfortunately, it doesnt have the features to match and while its similar to LGs Shine, we think Samsung could have done slightly better ...

  • Slim, easy to use, great slider mechanism, 2 megapixel camera
  • Not that fashion focused, Mrs Pocket-lint didnt seem that bothered by the design
  • A strong competent model, but the "It looks amazing" comment is stretching it a touch too far

  • Just like the D900, it is a pleasure to use and handle.
  • Its signature Ultra slider design cant compete with the more stylish LG Shine.
  • Samsung hasnt moved the D840s design on enough to excite.

  • Abstract:  Samsung's Ultra range of handsets is well established, and its overriding theme is of thin and sleek mobiles. Between us, Riyad and I have looked at several Ultra mobiles as the range has developed, including the SGH-Z560 and SGH-D830 . The D840 is a sli...

  • Abstract:  In the year of 2006 Samsung has been into “slim” handsets – in this field the company has established special line-ups, specifically Ultra Thin Edition, gathering three different form-factors: candy-bar, folder and slider (X820, D830 and...
