The tablet's buttons are in the perfect locations-the Windows key is on the right side
Matching the location of Windows 8's "charms" bar
And the power and volume buttons are on the top edge. They're easily accessible when the tablet is being used as a "

I'm not a fan of tablet cameras (seriously
Shoot your vacation photos with something better) and the Surface 3's shooter is mediocre at best. Medium-brightness scenes photograph okay
But the sensor just falls flat on bright colors and surfaces. Meh

Versatile design, Excellent software compatibility, Attractive screen, Good connectivity
Type Cover is an essential accessory, Heavy for handheld use, Weak on-screen keyboard
As we inspected the Surface Pro 4 ahead of the Surface 3, despite the latter launching back in the first half of the year, it's more a case of deciding whether or not the stripped back Surface experience of the 3 is still valid as we move into 2016.It pac...

If you're looking for a tablet that can do more, or an affordable laptop alternative, Surface 3 is a great deal. At $500 for the 128GB/4GB RAM model, you're really getting a lot. The Surface screams “compatibility”. Microsoft really did a fine job with th...

Abstract: The new Surface, not to be confused with the Surface Pro, is one of Microsoft's latest tablets, and despite its low price-point, it's impressively capable. To that effect, Surface 3 replaces the previous generation of watered down RT models, making it Mic...

Abstract: Tablets running Microsoft Windows are not the cheapest products around, but consumers still spend a lot of money on them because they want to use and experience the environment of Windows, which is one of the smoothest and productive operating systems on...
Fullblown Windows 10 experience, Near perfectly calibrated screen, $500 cost is pretty agreeable for a tablet running full Windows 10, Fullsize USB port & microSD card slot, Sturdy adjustable kickstand
Can be sluggish with heavier operations, 64GB variant offers very little free space, Speakers sound flat, Camera performs poorly under low light, Exceptionally long charging time
Microsoft has done right with the Surface 3, eliminating the sour taste left over from the disappointments and shortcomings of its Windows RT powered Surface tablets. In all fairness, we're not dealing with a tablet here, but instead, it's a tablet on ste...

Excellent metal design includes a kickstand and fullsized USB port. Generally good performance from Atom SoC. Type Cover and Surface Pen are great accessories that make the Surface 3 a versatile device. Windows 10 should make this an even better product.
Type Cover is not included and is sold as an expensive (yet musthave) $130 accessory. Not great as a laptop. Battery life is somewhat disappointing.
Flexible use modes Gorgeous design, Great build quality, Topnotch 1080p display
Subpar Storage performance, Pricey with extras, Type Cover's cramped trackpad
Microsoft's Surface 3 is a tough one to judge. For starters, the operating system onboard at the time of this review won't be the one that most buyers see. In a few weeks, Windows 10 will make its debut, sliding right atop Windows 8.1 as a free upgrade. W...
Microsoft Surface 3 with Surface Pro 3 and iPad AirBuyers with simple needs will love the Microsoft Surface 3. People can find cheaper Windows tablets, but they won't find a better Atom-powered Windows tablet. There's not a two-in-one with this much quali...
