  • The Bose Companion 5 sounds very good but, realistically, its lacking too much to be appealing. The lack of audio inputs is an oversight for a system that costs so much. And the faux-surround sound only works sporadically, and only if youre in exactl...

  • Abstract:  If it’s a Bose product, you know it ain’t gonna be cheap. And that’s the case with the US$399 Bose Companion 5 computer speakers. That said, they’re the best faux 5.1 surround sound speakers I’ve run across. The Companion 5 M...

  • The subwoofer delivers nice rumble. Speakers widen the stereo image. Great for desktop or home listening. Wired control has volume and mute button.
  • "Surround-like" is NOT real surround sound. The satellites are lacking in the mid-high frequencies. Control is wired.
  • Boses Companion 5 speakers are great for those who want more from their DVD audio but lack the space for a true surround-sound setup....

  • Abstract:  Spend the big money like the Jamo i300, and Bose delivers a 2.1 system with a serious amount of tech inside. Right up front theres the TrueSpace surround sound emulator - connect this system to a PC via USB and it will do its best to simulate 5.1 sur...
