  • Abstract:  The WD My Cloud EX2 is designed for prosumers (such as avid amateur and semi-pro photographers and videographers) who want the convenience of cloud storage, but who don't want to store files on servers outside their physical control. In terms of a friendl...

  • Abstract:  While the EX2 is a good-looking and compact device, it's a little irritating that the USB ports aren't immediately accessible and are instead found on the back of the device. There are two USB3 ports, but if you want to back up to or from an attached USB...

  • You've got quite a lot of choice if you're looking for an affordable 2-bay NAS, that much is clear. Based on our test with 8 models, the performance is also fine. Obviously the performance scales with the price, as you would expect. The DS216se from Syn...

  • The WD My Cloud EX2 has a few minor faults, but it's easy to use and provides good performance and reliability at an attractive price. There are more sophisticated NAS drives available for larger businesses, but the EX2 provides all the features that home...

  • RAID1 protection out of the box, Low power consumption, Stylish design, Easy to set up and manage, Cost effective, Remote access from anywhere in the world, Near-silent operation
  • Local network performance not as high as purpose-built solutions,
  • PricingSince Western Digital brought the single bay My Cloud to the market late last year (followed by the EX4 a couple of months after), there has been a strong impression placed on the drives especially after the My Cloud TV advert was released. The pri...

  • Smart, minimalist design, Intuitive setup, Fairly fast, Good value when bought pre-populated
  • Flimsy build quality, Lack of expandable RAID, PC app needs work
  • An interesting option for NAS novices, but the My Cloud EX2 isn't without a few issues we'd rather it didn't have....

  • The WD My Cloud EX2 is speedy, easy to use and affordable. The server's mobile-enabled personal cloud feature is a bonus for frequent travelers
  • The mobile app supports a limited number of file formats for playback, has no search function, and doesn't allow you to sort by content type. As a dual-bay server, its protected storage capacity is limited at 4TB for now
  • With its friendly pricing, fast performance, and handy personal cloud features, the WD My Cloud EX2 is an ideal network storage device for a small connected home....

  • Easy outofthebox installation, Form Factor, Decent Read speeds, SpinDown feature
  • No Power and copy HDD to USB buttons, No 2.5″ drive support, Write Speeds, Limited app support, WD Dashboard redirects only to the NAS' IP address setup during first installation, No disclosure of actual CPU used
  • This will keep casual users happy. Though the apps are limited, WD does provide them as pointed out earlier. WD also provides mobile apps along with PC apps. I have not encountered any hassle when it comes to setting up the unit. Speaking of the unit, thi...
