  • Eye start AF, user friendly feel despite level of complexity, well saturated, reasonably sharp and detailed images
  • Blocky, chunky styling, lack of top plate mounted LCD status display (though such shooting settings are accessed via the main LCD)
  • Not everyone will appreciate the A700’s rather boxy, blocky appearance, but it’s easy to use and will deliver colour rich images with a minimum of fuss, while leaving plenty of scope for further creativity and creative flexibility should you s...

  • Sturdy magnesium body, Extensive exposure controls
  • Inconsistencies with auto white balance, Mediocre software bundle
  • A complex, well-made camera with tons of controls, the A700 takes exceptionally sharp, well-exposed shots.

  • Fun to use, Great handling, Nice features, Good images
  • Topplate buttons are fiddly, Not much else

  • Excellent photos, Fast response (5 fps), Built-in stabilization
  • Expensive, Heavy, Noise at very high ISOs
  • Let’s welcome Sony to the top ranks of the D-SLR universe. The alpha DSLR-A700 is an excellent camera and I recommend it without reservation. Although I used it with a killer lens available in a $1,800 USD kit, the camera performed at those nose...
