  • Broad, functional feature set, including sensor-shift image stabiliser; excellent photo quality; generally fast performance
  • A few design quirks; proprietary hot shoe
  • A top-of-the-line amateur digital SLR camera, the Sony Alpha DSLR-A700 will delight Konica Minolta diehards and makes a great choice if you dont already have a stake in other lens systems ...

  • Quick focusing. Great control layout. Excellent images up to ISO 800 ...
  • Feels a bit flimsy. No top LCD. Unimpressive kit lenses. Scene modes?...
  • The A700 produces excellent shots, but its cheap build and shutter noise mean it loses out to rivals from Olympus and Nikon ...

  • Can I recommend the Sony A700? Yeah, I like it a lot. I would wait until it ages just a bit more and the price becomes a real bargain when some new camera models come out from Sony. I suspect the Sony A700 will be capturing some great images for som...

  • Abstract:  Both on paper and in the way it handles, Sony’s Alpha A700 certainly gives its prosumer DSLR competition a run for their money. At a glance, this unit is well built, offers some 12.24-megapixels, outstanding LCD resolution, and an array of features...

  • Low noise at high ISOs (excels at low-light shooting). Fast operation. HDMI out. Includes a remote control.
  • Expensive for what you get. Soft images. Dull design. LCD doesnt support Live View. No video capability.
  • The Sony Alpha DSLR-A700 takes superb low-light photos, but overall, there are better options for the price....

  • A superb addition to the DSLR market. The only problem is it now gives you one more camera to consider as it is a definite competitor. Providing quality photos, an overabundance of useful features and functions; it reaches out to the camera enthusiast ...

  • High resolution. Built-in image stabilization. Uses UDMA cards.
  • No live view. Proprietary battery. No automatic flash popup.
  • The A700 offers great image quality at a good price. As with all DSLRs, a purchase commits you to that camera’s family of lenses and other accessories. If you are comfortable with Sony’s current offerings or have an investment in Minolta alpha...

  • Great build quality; good image quality; fast performance; beautiful LCD screen.
  • No status LCD; no live view; cumbersome button placement; in-viewfinder status display doesn’t show ISO; rear LCD screen turns on at inappropriate times.
  • The Sony Alpha DSLR-A700 is close to being a strong competitor in the DSLR market. It can produce good images, but it’s obvious when using the camera that Sony does not have the legacy of interface development that Canon and Nikon have. The DSLR...

  • Abstract:  Sony doesnt have a long history of producing SLR digital cameras. As a matter of fact, the Sony Alpha A700 is only their second DSLR. Their first DSLR was the A100, which was released over a year ago. Since Sonys acquisition of Konica Minolta back in...

  • Offering a compelling combination of intuitive design and handling, sophisticated functionality and excellent image quality, the Sony A700 is an easy DSLR camera to recommend. Being based so clearly upon a previous Konica Minolta camera has given Sony...
