  • Bright lens for DSLR-style shallow depth of field effects and low light shooting, tilt and swivel back screen, built-to-last metal construction
  • Costs almost as much as a starter DSLR or compact system camera, which arguably would offer even more creative scope in the long run despite the extra bulk
  • But, unlike say the Sony RX100, pictures from this Samsung resemble those from the very good snapshot camera that it is, rather than cheating users into thinking they've just shot something with a digital SLR

  • With the EX2F Samsung has made a compact camera that is impressive in many regards. You get lots of features, WiFi has been implemented in a helpful way, and the very light-sensitive sensor is great for low-light conditions. The interface is thorough, a...

  • Solid build quality, Operational performance, Feature, rich, Low light AF
  • Lens quality, High, ISO noise
  • The EX2F is a good example of getting what you pay for. It's the cheapest of the high-end advanced compacts, and while it does offers some excellent features, good overall performance and outstanding low-light results, it simply can't match the image qua...

  • Abstract:  n July 2012 Samsung announced the replacement for its EX1 prestige compact in the shape of the Samsung EX2F. This pint-sized, high-end compact is another addition to the electronic giant’s growing line of Wi-Fi-enabled smart cameras, and offers loads of advance...

  • Good build quality, nice to handle, Pleasanttouse swivel screen, Nice design, control layout, interface, advanced functions (RAW etc.), Good general responsiveness, Good picture quality, especially at wideangle with aperture from f/1.4!
  • Not enough customisable features, Onscreen image too saturated, colour fidelity could be better, Sharpness levels could be more consistent over the frame at telephoto, Video images affected by compression, sound is a bit rough around the edges
  • The Samsung EX2F is a nicely designed camera that's pleasant to use and gives good performances. However, it remains slightly behind Panasonic's LX7 on image quality (at the same price point). Ultimately, though, it would have taken a minor revolution to ...

  • Solid-feel metal build, tilting and swivelling high contrast AMOLED back screen, plenty of manual control, fast aperture lens allows for low light shooting and creative shallow depth of field effects
  • Bright lens can overexpose brighter daylight scenes, costs as much as starter DSLR or CSC which could offer better overall results, and of a similar size to the smaller CSCs like the Nikon J2
  • The only downside is, despite including bags of detail from centre to corner of frame, pictures can look better on the camera's back than your own desktop

  • When Sony introduced the Cyber-shot RX100 earlier this year, it was so far ahead of the competition that much of the existing market was instantly invalidated. It was, and still is, the high-end compact for discerning photographers who need portability, a...

  • Like the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7, the Samsung EX2F is a solid camera without being spectacular. It builds well on its predecessor and is an attractive proposition in many ways, such as its good build quality, fast and sharp lens, and variety of shooting m...
