  • Tactile rubber coated exterior, cheap price, easy to use, simple to navigate feature set
  • Basic feature set, no HD video, optical zoom disabled when recording movies, white balance issues and inconsistent performance, flash fires automatically in lower lighting
  • A simple to use pocket snapper with a simple feature set too, but colour balance issues and camera shake in lower lighting means that it comes with caveats. A lesson in “you get what you pay for” from Pentax...

  • If you only have £100 or less to spend on a friendly beginner camera, the Pentax Optio M900 offers a fair return for a modest investment. But an outlay of just £50 more will get you a better camera in Nikon's similar S5100 -- and better pictures, too....
