Though the Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR is a solid superzoom, we come away from this review a bit disappointed. When we heard the HS30 would stick with the same zoom ratio as its predecessor, we thought "perfect, they're going to work on image quality instead...
Advanced controls: mechanical zoom, loads of buttons, etc, Good build quality, sturdy and reassuring, Viewfinder is better than those usually seen in bridges, Good picture quality up to 800 ISO or even 1600 ISO, 1080p HD video with stereo sound
Handling can be complicated (options sometimes deactivated, menus could be simpler), Lens could give more consistentquality results, especially at wideangle settings, RAW shots are slow to save, limited burst mode
The Fuji HS30 EXR is a pretty standard replacement for the HS20 EXR. It brings a largely improved viewfinder and an Li-ion battery, but it's otherwise just like its predecessor. In other words, it's a very good bridge—or a must-have for anyone looking for...
Manually operated 30x zoom, Well featured and easy to use, Flexible EXR modes produce consistent results, EVF much improved from previous model, Better battery life than previous model
Still a bit sluggish in the performance stakes, Quite noisy at mid to high ISO settings
The HS30 follows the same design blueprint of its predecessors with the overall size and shape of the camera not dissimilar to that of a small, entry-level DSLR. Overall build quality, while not quite up to the same benchmark standard of Fuji's flagship X...
Best-in-class viewfinder, manual zoom and focus rings, huge zoom range, well designed, a cut above the HS20EXR, close-focus abilities
Image quality lacks detail at crucial mid-high ISO settings, continuous autofocus has limited use, autofocus live preview ‘cuts out' at longer focal lengths, overexposure issues
The HS30EXR is a notable improvement over the HS20EXR model. It has a best-in-class viewfinder and the inclusion of a rechargeable li-ion battery is welcome. The significant 24-720mm lens will be a deal-maker for many, yet the 16MP sensor can’t quite d...
Great controls, Extremely long zoom, Quite light and fairly compact, Sharp output, Articulated display
Slightly slow video compensation for lighting changes
You'll likely be attracted to the Fujifilm FinePix HS30 EXR by its long zoom and high resolution, and you wouldn't be disappointed. It's packed with features, produces a great set of pictures and takes no time at all to get to grips with....
This camera creates 360, degree panoramas and lets you make your own 3D images.
The LCD screen only folds out to a 90, degree angle.
If you want a camera that is capable of mega zoom and has many of the same features as an SLR camera, we recommend looking at the HS30EXR from Fujifilm....
