Cheap construction
More compelling choices in modelup and modeldown
Amongst Canon’s new line of ZR camcorders, the ZR830 finds itself between a rock and a hard place. It is the middle child, wedged between the ZR800, which includes a microphone jack, and the ZR850, which offers better video quality and larger stills...
Respectable video performance in good lighting conditions, easy-to-use menu system, widescreen LCD viewer, built-in lens cover, budget price

Easy to use menu system with joystick control; impressive color in good lighting; wide-screen LCD; built-in lens cover; low price.
No accessory shoe or microphone input; bottom-loading tape compartment; low-resolution still photos; not enough stabilization at maximum zoom; poor low-light performance.
If you dont shoot in low light and dont plan on using it to shoot still images, this feature-rich camcorder is a bargain.
