TThe FS100 model camcorder by Canon is an SD based one that delivers what one expects of this kind. It is one among the entry stage models and boasts of a 37x optical zoom.
It is loaded with a variety of features and easy to handle. These features make it suited even for beginners and also casual users.
The use of flash memory makes the camcorder much smaller and sounds lesser compared to other models. Another major advantage is the extended battery life. The reviewers found that at least a 4 GB SD card will be required along with the camcorder to make the purchase worthwhile.
An external microphone input is present in this device that makes recording of high quality possible. The manual controls are found to be ideal. The videos recorded appear a bit softer than it is intended to be. The videos shot outdoors look much better than those in indoors.

TestSeek's Conclusion
The budget prizing at $277 and modest functions makes this suitable for beginners and non professionals. But reviewers disagree to the claim that it delivers in accordance to its prize tag. Many of them were disappointed with the performance delivered by this gadget. On the whole it depends on the consumer to decide between.
The FS100 looks good and feels good, but lets the side down a bit and I would expect more from the likes of Canon. The decent quality does not rescue the Canon from lacklustre filming performance and compared against high-def models costing not much mo...
Abstract: It’s extremely light and compact, and you can just about slip it into a jacket pocket when you’re on the move. The 37x optical zoom is impressive, although the image can get a bit grainy at full zoom. Unfortunately, you’ll need to supply your own memory card before you can get started.
No optical image stabilisation; ineffective wind filter; no headphone jack; modest video quality
Convenient, well-designed camcorders that look pricier than they are, models in the Canon FS series -- FS11, FS10 and FS100 -- nevertheless deliver typical budget video in line with their price tags ...
All in all, for the price, you can get a decent camcorder for a decent price. If you need a camcorder and price is a factor, you can certainly make due with the Canon FS100. Record your memories today; after all, they are priceless when you look back o...
Abstract: It’s clear before you even order one that Canon’s FS100 SD camcorder is not aimed at the top end of the market. That much is clear from the color schemes Canon have devised. Today we look beyond the color to see what you can actually accomplish with th...
Abstract: The Canon FS100 isnt the darling child weve come to expect from arguably the best high definition manufacturers out there. Its cheap and light and fairly easy to use, but the video performance is nothing compared to its high definition cousins. The ...
Abstract: Let me say what I liked about it first. As said before, It’s lightweight and small enough to fit in most pants pockets (or are you just happy to see me?) without making you walk funny. The unit measures 2.3-inches wide, 2.4-inches high, and 4.9-inche...

Lots of modes and features to play around with, compact design, external microphone jack
No inbuilt memory, no headphone jack The Final Word The FS100 is a flash-memory-based camcorder with an impressive array of features for the asking price. While it may not excel in any one area, it offers solid performance across the board.
