  • Extremely deep black levels; very natural-looking colors; quiet fan.
  • Pictures look a tad soft; pricier than some of its 1080p competitors; large and bulky.
  • JVCs DLA-HD1 is a ground-breaking projector that beams out images with extremely natural colors and black levels. That said, its not quite as sharp or as bright as some of its cheaper rivals.

  • Abstract:  Uses revolutionary new technology to spectacularly reinvigorate JVC's DILA projection JVC has been plugging away at its ‘D-ILA’ projector technology for years now in the face of general indifference from the AV market. But now suddenly, out of nowhere,...

  • Think Texas Instruments owns digital projection? Think again. JVC’s liquid crystal on silicon D-ILA chips have a greater pixel density than DLP and can produce startlingly realistic results. And the HD has three of them. Its 15,000:1 contrast ratio...
  • There’s nothing wrong with the HD1 that a lottery win wouldn’t fix. Apart from its stratospheric price tag, you might watch out for its twin HDMI ports, which are only v1.2 instead of the newest v1.3 sockets that support Deep Colour.
  • Hook up a kick-ass PC to the HD1, fire up Left 4 Dead or World of Warcraft and you will never, ever, leave your house ever again. Seriously. They’ll have to bring in an IV drip and a catheter to keep you alive. It won’t be pretty. JVC DLA-HD1...

  • Great picture performance. A very quiet unit
  • The looks are an acquired taste and it is very, very big
  • Occasional users might prefer a punchier picture, but for a blacked-out home cinema, this is a steal ...

  • Deep black levels and natural colours
  • Images could be brighter. Pictures look a bit soft.
  • It throws out excellent pictures, but it does suffer by being so big.

  • JVCs DLA-HD1 is a ground-breaking projector in that it beams out images with extremely natural colours and black levels to a degree that weve not seen before in this price range. Our praise, however, is tempered by the fact its not quite as sharp o...

  • Abstract:  There was a lot of buzz after CEDIA and CES this past January. The projector market has been going through a huge change over the last year and the evolution of this market segment has been amazing to say the least. The specs for projectors have improv...

  • Reproduces deep shade of black; solid video processing; excellent feature package; numerous picture adjustments, including LCoS panel alignment.
  • Primary colors, especially green, are quite inaccurate, making overall color fidelity suffer.
  • The JVC DLA-HD1 projector does a lot of things very well at a reasonable price for a 1080p projector. If JVC were to improve color accuracy, it would be a world-class product.

  • Abstract:  While JVC has established a name for itself at the very highest, professional end of the projection market, it has never really broken the domestic scene. One or two projectors using the company's proprietary D-ILA technology have come our way over the ye...
