  • While 2TB is almost too much storage for the average TV viewer, extra capacity is a big need for many Sky+ users – especially with great new features such as Sky On Demand. The box itself is glossy and compact (although we're not fans of the too-dark remo...

  • The Sky+ HD box offers loads of impressive features, and although it may sound dull, the remote control is one of them. We've got used to the layout of the Sky+ box's remote, as it's been around for so many years, and it's a great piece of design. All of the buttons are just where you want them, and because they feature subtly different shapes, it's easy to operate in the dark or without looking.
  • The Sky+ HD box isn't the perfect solution, however. Virgin Media's TiVo box comes up trumps when it comes to TV on demand, with a much greater choice of channels and content on offer. The TiVo also offers a better electronic programming guide – at least when it comes to content – although it can't match the Sky+ HD for slickness and speed.
  • The Sky+ HD box is still arguably the best PVR solution on the market, although it's starting to need an overhaul in some areas. If TV on demand is something you're more interested in, then it's worth checking out Virgin Media's TiVo solution. Otherwis...

  • A massive 240 hours of HD recording space; Classy design, operationally quiet; Extended space for Sky Anytime content; Ready for 3D and Sky Anytime+ VOD
  • No Dolby Digital 5.1 over HDMI; You can't mute the EPG Mini TV window; USB and eSATA ports still not active
  • The Sky+HD 1TB satellite box is a peach of a PVR. A huge hard drive means you no longer have to ration your hi-def recordings and the interface is slick and easy to use. With 3D compatibility and Sky's Anytime+ video-on-demand service just around the c...

  • Excellent HD picture and sound quality; speedy box; tonnes of channels; heaps of HD content; pay-per-view service is excellent
  • We're upset by the £10 fee for viewing HD; too many channels that don't really deserve to be on the air at all; expensive
  • If you love TV, then it's quite likely that getting a Sky+HD box will be the best decision of your life. Sports fans will find more than they could ever watch while holding down a job, and movie lovers are pretty well catered for too. The hardware is ...

  • It's just a bigger drive

  • Although Sky's HD movie offering certainly doesn't come cheap, your money does at least get you a genuinely massive selection of HD movie content, delivered with often good and sometimes excellent picture and sound quality. The platform's variable bit-rat...

  • The original HD vendor has many admirers – 'tough' guy Ross Kemp records Eastenders on his, rugby-star distracter Kelly Brook swears by it, Parky keeps his false teeth on his - but is it any good? Hell yeah! You get hundreds of standard-defi...
  • It's not cheap. The price has dropped from £300 to £150, but that's still pricey. Especially when you add the monthly subscriptions. Sky's on-demand service, Sky Anytime, could also be better. At the minute Sky picks the...
  • The 'stars' choice and our choice as well, Sky+ HD has a great range of HD channels on offer. Quite simply, when it comes to HD PVRs there are none better than this.Sky+ HD is tagged with sky, high definition and PVR. Select a tag (sky, for exampl...
