  • 256GB internal hard drive for multimedia playback, Very good image quality, WiFi, Can convert all audio formats to DTS,
  • Expensive, Larger and heavier than standard Bluray players, Hard drive storage has limited functionality,
  • For most people, the player's 250GB internal hard drive won't justify the LG BD590's relatively high cost. ...

  • Abstract:  Blu-ray players have come down in price considerably and now it seems the fight is on for features and market share. LG has tackled this problem by filling its new BD590 with all of the network features you could want, including built-in 802.11n wirele...

  • Abstract:  LG BD590 is the manufacturer’s flagship product and this is the first Blu-ray player in my labs to feature a built in hard drive. Through this internal memory, you can store lots of content and then watch it at your leisure. I had this player for aroun...

  • While the lack of 3D capabilities may make the LG BD 590 seem lacking compared to other top end players from Sony, Panasonic and Samsung, we found that the BD590 is actually a more useful product for the foreseeable future since 3D playback requires ad...

  • Spruces up a hohum product with digital media verve. Surprisingly slim and quiet (even with the HDD). Lossless ripping allows highdef music playback. Integrated 802.11n wireless connectivity delivers fast, crisp content across the network. Plays back locallystored MKV, DivX , H.264 and MPEG4 video files like a champ.
  • Just shy of being competitively priced. Clunky menus and occasionally laggy interface. Lack of 3D shortens its potential shelf life.

  • Excellent Blu-ray image quality; rips CDs directly to built-in 250GB hard drive; Netflix, Vudu, YouTube, Pandora, and CinemaNow streaming; built-in Wi-Fi; plays music, videos, and pictures off a connected USB drive or via network
  • Does not support 3D Blu-ray, no quick-start mode, which makes it feel slower compared with some other players, media interface is overdesigned, must change the output mode to 1080p
  • The LG BD590 deftly handles Blu-ray playback, CD ripping, and streaming media services like Netflix from a single box, but you'll have to pay for that simplicity. Read full review See all prices

  • If some of the BD-590's networking features sound a little rough around the edges, don't blame the player. Unfortunately, that's the nature of the beast. This stuff is getting a lot easier to use; but except for networking nerds, it's still not exact...
