  • Breathtaking pictures; full-HD panel; 1080p video input compatibility; three digital video inputs; comprehensive user menu.
  • Barebones kit; reflective screen; pricey.
  • The Pioneer PDP-5000EX sets a new yardstick for all 50-inch plasma panels both in picture quality and pricing.

  • Glorious picture with both High- and standard-def sources.
  • No Scart sockets or tuner. Scrotum-shrivellingly expensive.
  • It performs amazingly, but youll have to dig deep. Start saving!

  • Awesome standard- and high-definition image quality; solid build; 1080p compatible
  • No Scarts, tuner or speakers; very expensive
  • The price will restrict this to home cinema nuts, and thats a shame. Whether youre watching standard- or high-defintion material, or playing games, this is one of the very best screens on the market -- and it makes a truly stunning centrepiece for a...

  • The best picture performance weve seen from a flat screen, whether the source is hi, or standard definition
  • Six grand. Six grand. Six grand…apart from that, nothing
  • If God IS watching, hell be set up in front of this bad boy ...

  • Abstract:  Pioneer, the plasma display specialist, has made the market’s first 50-inch plasma display with full 1920 x 1080 progressive resolution, with pixels so small that they are almost invisible. A conservatively rated contrast ratio of 3000:1 gives unsurpa...

  • Abstract:  Double the pixels, double the fun. I first laid eyes on the Pioneer PDP-5000EX (it is known in the states as the PRO-FHD1) in Las Vegas at CES 2006. The little sign beneath it, touting a Full HD plasma display (1920 by 1080 pixels) with full support f...

  • Abstract:  We know what you're thinking: just what makes Pioneer think it can get away with charging a cool £5,370 (and that's the cheapest price we could find) for a 50in plasma TV, when similar-sized models can now be had elsewhere for barely a third as much? Well...

  • Abstract:  Pioneer PDP5000EX A 127-centimetre plasma screen for $11,000? What is this, 2004? Nope, its whats known as 1080p native resolution, built specifically to reach the full potential of the two high-definition DVD formats, Blu-ray and ...
