Mit seiner technischen Ausstattung ist der Sony Bravia X85J in seiner Preisklasse vermutlich einzigartig: Der KD-65X85J kostete zum Testzeitpunkt unter 1.000 Euro, dafür gibt es aber bis zu 120 Hertz für den LCD-Bildschirm und für zwei HDMI-Eingänge. Die akzeptieren auch variable Bildraten und sind damit perfekt für die neuen Spielkonsolen geeignet. Außerdem gefiel beim X85J die gute Bildqualität mit natürlichen Farben und hohen Helligkeitsreserven bei gutem Kontrast. Dass der Ton nur die Grundbedürfnisse befriedigt, ist angesichts des Preises kein Wunder. Dank Android-Betriebssystem samt Google TV ist der Sony ganz auf der Höhe der Zeit, ein zusätzliches Streaming-Gerät ist hier nicht erforderlich
