  • Abstract:  The Nikon D3S is so sensitive it can focus and shoot in conditions in which even the human eye cannot see. Although high ISO settings are a feature of most modern DSLR bodies, the quality of the Nikon D3S high ISO settings is unsurpassed for low noise ...

  • One of the fastest DSLR cameras you can get, the DS3 is just perfect for capturing quick-moving action shots. It can record at up to 11fps (frames per second) so can easily catch a car whizzing by, or a dart in mid air. You do lose a little resolution by engaging the fast (continuous) shooting mode but the images are still fantastic, with rich colours and amazing detail.
  • Yes, the 720p HD video mode is more than just a bonus but it doesn’t compete with the Full HD (1920x1080) available on Canon EOS models like the 5D Mark II and 550D. This is also a serious level of investment so you’ll need to be sure about just how big your love of photography is.
  • The Nikon D3S is a superbly engineered camera that looks the business and also does the business when it comes to ultra-high-quality still images. Find the cash for this beauty and you’re unlikely to be disappointed – though you may have to brush up yo...

  • So is the D3s the best full-frame DSLR currently on the market? Well, some photographers may hesitate here. It’s not only the price tag, but its size and weight and – unless you make full use of the increased low-light sensitivity and speed &n...

  • The D3S is an incredibly sophisticated camera and a very tempting prospect for full-frame upgraders. It might even tempt some system switchers...

  • Abstract:  On the surface, Nikon's D3s doesn't look as if it's changed substantially compared to the top-end model it's replacing, the D3. You get the same resolution from the 12.1-megapixel sensor and the body is practically identical, barring a very minor reshu...

  • Excellent image quality, particularly at very high sensitivities, great ergonomics, design and control layout, menu system, comprehensive feature set and HD movie capability with external audio
  • Fastest frame rate only available in DX format mode, price (the D3s is £800 dearer than the D3 at launch), low light AF hunting, bulk/weight
  • This evolution of Nikon’s D3 full "FX" frame professional digital SLR brings new features such as HD movies into the frame. A new 12.1-megapixel sensor with improved circuitry allows superb image quality at very high ISO settings makes the D3s a stu...

  • Nikon’s taken the opportunity to refresh the D3 with the D3S, in much the same way as its created the D300S, incorporating Nikon’s D-Movie mode and sundry other enhancements at the same time. And that’s fair enough – it might be two years old, but the...

  • At the press launch of the Nikon D3S I was very impressed with the quality of the images on display, but was eager to see how the camera would perform in my own hands. As is clear here, the D3S fared well. Its body and many of its features will come a...

  • Well-made, Stunning images, Excellent ISO performance, Fast
  • Limited video mode, It's either this or a new car, Although we'd choose this
  • When the D3s was announced a few months ago, it was difficult to see what the fuss was about. It looked exactly the same as the 24.5 megapixel D3x and the original 12.1MP D3.That wasn't where the similarities ended, either - Nikon has resisted the urge...

  • Abstract:  When the Nikon D3 was announced in 2007, it changed digital photography overnight. No, it really did – literally. It might have been Nikon’s first full-frame DSLR, but the D3 came straight off the starting blocks offering world-beating performance in l...
