  • Abstract:  The Galaxy S4 is Samsung's flagship for the first half of this year and the latest in the Galaxy S range – with a range of upgrades including better specs, a better screen, better camera and new software features, it's one of the most popular devices of t...

  • Abstract:  The latest craze in mobile devices is waterproof/rugged devices, a trend that was arguably kicked off by Sony with the launch of the Sony Xperia Z earlier this year. As we've seen over the last few years, Samsung believe there is a Galaxy smartphone for e...

  • Abstract:  Samsung is certainly flogging the S4 brand as far as it can. Multiple configurations of the original device, plus the Mini, the Zoom and the Active give us a group of products that don't all share the same design language and don't all share the same spec...

  • tough, robust handset, performs well, HD display, has 4G and NFC support, and comes with the best Samsung features.
  • less powerful camera, the back easily scuffs, battery life is average.
  • The Samsung Galaxy S4 Actives manages to give the best of both worlds. Most of the excellent features in the original S4, plus a sturdy, tough case. The only minus being a less powerful camera...

  • IP67 rating, 4G LTE support, Some useful software add, ons
  • Camera is inferior to Galaxy S4, Flimsy backplate, Some software features aren't so great
  • Despite it gaining an IP67 rating, I'm not convinced that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is the phone to choose if you are looking for a rugged handset. Try the fully sealed Sony Xperia Z as an alternative before taking the plunge (so to speak). Samsung ha...

  • Water and dust proof, powerful processor, hires screen, it takes pics underwater!
  • Not as rugged as its name suggests, bigger and heavier than the S4
  • The Galaxy S4 Active isn't quite as rugged as its name suggests -- despite the water and dust proofing, and the Corning Gorilla Glass covering the display, there's not a lot of protection against dropping it. Still, it could certainly take the original ...

  • Tough design, decent screen, great performance
  • Touchwiz additions are largely negative
  • The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active offers all the key perks of the original S4 while fixing its build-quality issues. However, the phone's overall allure is still hampered by the addition of Samsung's Touchwiz Android skin, which adds a host of useless apps and...

  • Rugged waterproof design; Great performance; 4G and NFC support; Samsung’s great range of features; HD screen
  • Camera scaled back; Easily scuffed rear; Average battery life
  • The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active costs almost as much as the five-star flagship phone it’s based on, but retains almost all of the excellent features and performance while adding a new rugged build. That added peace of mind is appreciated, and we’re glad that...
