  • HTC make excellent devices, but this does feel rather cheap and may disappoint those with huge expectations

  • Abstract:  T-Mobiles G1 is the first touch-screen smartphone based on Googles Android mobile operating system. The 3G handset is made by HTC, but its a very different handset from the Touch HD (opposite). It has a smaller 3.2in screen, but it includes a min...

  • Android shows promise; well-made hardware (keyboard aside); capacitive screen
  • Confused control system; awful keyboard; feels like a beta OS; limited application storage
  • The T-Mobile G1 is an interesting first effort, both for the hardware and software, but it wont knock the iPhone from its perch. Come Android 2.0 and other devices, however......

  • Abstract:  It may have been on sale since the end of October, but a “limited supply of review units” (always an interesting concept when applied to a mass-market consumer product that’s launched worldwide) has meant that we’ve had to wait a few weeks to get a T-...

  • Abstract:  The G1 got us all so excited when we realised it would be the first Android-based phone to come our way. It’s still a mighty fine piece of kit – at least under the hood – but perhaps its one that those who are particular about certain things may avoid ...

  • From a hardware standpoint, the G1 is an also-ran. The dismal battery life and dodgy styling combine to make the G1 a far less appealing handset than the Android OS deserved on its first outing. But if HTCs hardware disappoints, Googles software rea...
