  • Superb visual clarity; true full-HD compatibility; DVI PC interface; high-end video processor.
  • Rather plain physical design; slightly unfriendly menu design; some motorized functions are a bit jumpy.
  • The Mitsubishs HC5000 isnt the prettiest 1080p projector on the block, but the images it delivers certainly are.

  • During the initial setup, I noticed that the auto iris was very slow to respond to the average picture level on the screen, so I set it to Open. I generally prefer a non-dynamic iris in any event, and this setting helped maximize the peak white level....

  • Abstract:  The HC5000 has forever changed my view of LCD projectors. The picture was rich in color and had high contrast with ample light output on our FireHawk screen. In addition, the 3-panel LCD inherently eliminated the annoyance I have with the color wheel o...

  • Abstract:  It seems these days there are almost too many projectors. What?! Too many? Nah, but it makes the playing field very confusing for consumers. In each review I try to narrow in on the type of person who might be looking for the product being reviewed - a...

  • Abstract:  Mitsubishi’s HC5000 leaves a bit to be desired in overall performance when compared to many other 1080p projectors in the $4,000 to $5,000 price range. When you consider the fact that contrast ratio is the most important element of the picture to th...

  • Relatively inexpensive for a 1080p projector; accurate color decoding; solid video processing; well-rounded feature package.
  • Iris settings are not good enough for dedicated darkened theater setups, and consequently blacks are not as deep as the best 1080p projectors.
  • Although stylish and affordable for a 1080p projector, the Mitsubishi HC5000s black level failings prevent it from earning our recommendation. Price range: $1,998.00 - $2,299.00 See all products in the Mitsubishi HC5000 series

  • Abstract:  As I mentioned in a previous update it took me nearly six months to get my hands on a Mitsubishi HC5000 but the wait was absolutely worth it. Several months ago I got my first glimpse of the HC5000, that glimpse turned into 5 or 6 full length movies, ...

  • Abstract:  Someone’s been putting nitroglycerin in the Cheerios over at the Mitsubishi design department. It all started about a year ago with the release of the 720p Dark Chip DLP . In one brilliant stroke, Mitsubishi brought to market a projector that had all ...
