  • Three HDMI 1.3 inputs; converts analog video sources to HDMI; onboard Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding; THX Neural surround processing; automatic speaker calibration; switches as many as HD video sources; multiroom functionality for second an...

  • Abstract:  When Onkyo introduced its TX-SR805 home-theater receiver last fall, it was the only receiver capable of decoding high-definition audio formats -- Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio -- which are part of the Blu-ray and HD DVD specifications). These forma...

  • Abstract:  Sense and sensibility and connectivity. One of the home theater industry’s greatest sins is modesty. If excessively modest people hide their lights under a bushel, speaker and receiver manufacturers go them one better, hiding their achievements in b...

  • The Onkyo TX-SR805 would be an excellent-sounding receiver at twice the price. At $1099, it’s an absolute bargain. The caveats of high heat output and HDMI handshake problems are unlikely to be problems for most people; for everyone else, there&rsqu...
