  • Improved speed, graphics and battery life in a similar, crisp design. Detachable tablet comes included, as does the Surface Pen. Has USB ports and SD card slot
  • It's also slightly thicker and heavier than last year's version, and retains the odd gap on the folding hinge. Expensive compared to other options. Doesn't meet minimum specs for VR gaming
  • The design remains mostly unchanged, but PC power users will like the extra power and battery life on the updated 2016 version of the Surface Book...

  • Even faster performance, GeForce GTX 965M graphics, Extended battery life, Same slim, versatile design as the original, Multiple configuration options
  • Pricey, Angular shape when closed
  • The new Microsoft Surface Book may not be a full redesign of last year's beloved tablet newcomer, but it packs some powerful new upgrades, along with a much higher price...

  • It's a laptop. A great laptop. Finally, a Windows computer without stickers and logos everywhere. The keyboard and trackpad are excellentand if you don't like them pen and touch work just great. Screen is gorgeous, and there's plenty of power behind it
  • Detaching and reattaching comes with some pain. This is a very expensive laptop

  • Versatile design w/ great keyboard, Exceptional performance, Stunning display
  • Awkward hinge design, Expensive, Heavy
  • The Surface Book is a valiant first foray into the realm of laptop computing hardware from Microsoft. It's a decidedly unusual setup that works surprisingly well, with an emphasis on being a laptop first and a tablet second - essentially the reverse of ev...

  • high-quality case made of magnesium alloy, CPU and GPU performance of a notebook in a convertible, no serious CPU or GPU throttling, good runtime of 10 hours, high resolution, bright display also for outdoor use, native 3:2 aspect ratio for picture editi
  • thicker and heavier than 13- and 14-inch Ultrabooks, no USB-C or HDMI, no WWAN or RJ-45, no SmartCard reader or fingerprint scanner, no secondary storage device, no TrackPoint or dedicated mouse buttons, software-undocking still prone to errors, bad upgr
  • It tries really hard and can score one point more than its Core i5 sibling from our first review of the Surface Book. The decisive factor was the longer runtime, because we could only find very small – if at all – advantages of the i7/512 GB version in re...

  • Abstract:  A lot has already been said about the design and style of both the updated Surface Pro 4 and the new Surface Book. Let's start with the Surface Pro 4 as it sees the least dramatic changes from previous product. The Surface Pro 4 uses the same kickstand tab...

  • The best hybrid design yet. Fantastic display complemented by the included stylus. Great performance, especially with the dedicated GPU. Excellent battery life.
  • A collection of software issues hasn't been fixed months after launch. Compromised cooling solution. The hinge doesn't fully close. Expensive for a laptop, expensive for a hybrid.

  • Abstract:  Microsoft is committed to bringing premium first-party hardware in much the same way that Apple does. The announcement of the original Surface and Surface Pro back in 2013 was met with a lot of criticism, that such a tablet couldn't possibly be useful in...

  • Microsoft is billing the Surface Book as “The Ultimate Laptop” which is a pretty lofty goal, especially for a first generation device. Unlike the Surface Pro line, which is only just now seeing competition from other vendors, there are plenty of other Ult...
