Fantastic wireless range. Good 5GHz speeds. USB ports support 3G failover. Easy-to-use, well-thought-out interface. Download software built in for those without NAS. Multiple guest SSIDs. Detachable antennas
Close performance for 2.4GHz isn't as good as it could be. Asus does not supply 3G dongle-compatibility list. Can run a little hot
While the RT-N66U may not have had the fastest 2.4GHz signal at close quarters, it certainly has the best range of any 802.11n router we've tested. Add to this the easy-to-use interface, leagues of options and the fact that it simply works — we can't hel...
Abstract: The ASUS router line-up was stagnant for quite some time, but it recently came roaring back into the fold with a range of new designs and products. At the top of the new performance range is the RT-N66U, which supports dual-band 450Mbps wireless, Gigab...
The true dualband Asus RTN66U Dark Knight Double 450Mbps N Router offers excellent coverage, stable wireless signals, and stellar data rates on the 5GHz band. The router comes with a generous feature set and can also work as a standalone VPN server.

Dark and sexy design, Supports file sharing and multiple SSIDs, Breakneck downlink speeds, IPv6 support
Steep price
The first engineering version didn't perform up to scratch - it crashed and burned. But ASUS managed to turn things around with a fully functional firmware which does justice to the N66U's aggressive hardware and impressive throughput speeds. There are har...
Abstract: This was a long overdue post as I had been using the ASUS RT-N66U for the past 6 months. Overall experience is great, especially for the wireless receptivity as this router is running on dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) with 3 base antennas. Never once did I h...
Dark and sexy design, Supports file sharing and multiple SSIDs, Breakneck downlink speeds, IPv6 support
Steep price
It is time to conclude the RT-N66U as succinctly as we can. Looks wise, the N66U has our vote over the previous N56U for a few reasons. For one, we see no harm in external and upgradable antennas, and we also favor the router's matte finishing as oppos...
