  • Abstract:  Solid State Drives (SSDs) are flash-based storage devices that have increasingly captured the attention of computer enthusiasts over the past few years. However, with prices dropping and increased competition that will continue this downward trend, SSD...

  • Significant improvement over first generation SSDs, New controller with cache provides significant reduction in random access times, Vertex family has up to 250GB capacity
  • Premium price, Power consumption increased with new controller and cache, I’d like to thank OCZ for making this review possible.
  • To an unknown user, the OCZ Vertex appears to be like all the other OCZ Solid State Drives. It’s a black box with an adhesive label indicating the series and capacity. Function comes first in my books over form and the OCZ Vertex does exactly that...

  • Abstract:  Up to now, Ive been hesitant to recommend Solid State Drives (SSDs) as a serious alternative to Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) since the really fast ones (like the Intel X25-E) were limited to a maximum capacity of 64G at very high prices. But the OCZ Vertex...

  • Abstract:  While we had just thrown a few hard drives and a solid state drive into this OCZ Vertex 60GB comparison, you can easily see how your drive would compare to these numbers by running the disk suite that contains all of these automated, standardized test...

  • Following encouraging theoretical performance in HD-Tach, our FC-Test sequential test showed the Vertex to comfortably outpace every mechanical drive in the write tests, a feat only previously achieved by the SLC based Intel X25-E (which, if you rememb...

  • Industry-leading performance, Great price for a high-performance SSD
  • Much more expensive than a mechanical hard drive
  • The Vertex is the first consumer SSD we’ve tested that truly offers groundbreaking performance at an affordable price per gigabyte, particularly in the 120GB capacity, a sweet spot for many upgraders. While the Vertex is still pricey relative to a 7...

  • The OCZ Vertex 120GB SSD is the fastest SSD ever benchmarked at Legit Reviews and is priced right, but needs user intervention to keep it at peak performance. ...

  • Final Words & Conclusion I recently gave a pretty big speech on JMicron controller based SSD drives. Seriously, the JMicron products should not be written off, they are a good amount cheaper and if anything, the GSkill Titan drive as shown in the bench...
