  • Easy to use; supports multiple PCs; low power draw

  • Automatic and continuous backup, attractive design, easy to setup and use, restore individual files quickly
  • Connection via Wifi would sure be nice
  • Wow! Where was this when I was in high school? One of the cool things about being so involved with computers and technology is watching the pace of change. Dan mentioned that the other day with his look at an old 32 MB card vs his 32 GB iPhone. Th...

  • The Replica backs up the entire contents of a Windows PC hard drive, operating system, and all; simple setup; restoring a system is easy; step-up 500GB model offers option for backing up multiple PCs.
  • Only backs up your entire system; you cant selectively move files on and off the drive; no Mac support; supplied USB cable is unusually short.
  • While Seagates Replica will seem silly and restricting to those looking for a flexible external storage option, others will welcome the singularity of its mission to back up your entire Windows PC.

  • Abstract:  One thing that I’ve noticed about Seagate is that they are beginning to target the everyday end user. In other words, they’re focusing on making their hardware easier to use. We’ve seen this with their external hard drives such as the FreeAgent Go and ...

  • Abstract:  Backing up your computer has never been as easy as it should be. This is a primary reason why most computer users tend not to do much more than occasionally rip a DVD or copy a few important files to an external USB drive drive… if that. Things like au...

  • Continuous backup. Easy to set up. Complete PC backup, including operating system and applications. 64-bit compatible. Supports multiple PCs.
  • Needs C: drives to be formatted as NTFS. Not Mac-compatible. Requires installation on a PC.
  • The majority of new Windows PC users can now back up their systems with the same level of security as Mac users have with Time Machine. The Seagate Replica is like a security blanket for your system....

  • Easy backup of multiple PCs, Intuitive browser backup window, Password protection
  • Can’t manually drag files onto hard drive, Lacks Linux and Mac compatibility, Large data transfers froze software
  • Seagate set out to create a hassle-free backup solution, and the company has achieved its goal with the $199 Replica. For families or users with multiple PCs, the Replica is a foolproof way to ensure that a system failure is not permanent. The inabilit...

  • Insanely simple backup; sleek design (500GB model includes dock); backs up entire system, which can be restored with included bootable CD
  • Slow; can’t drag and drop or copy and paste specific files to the drive; you back up either everything or nothing
  • Seagate’s Replica backup drive is as dead-simple a backup solution as we’ve ever seen. You just plug in the USB cables and it works. But that level of simplicity comes with a few caveats that all but the most casual of PC users might not like...
