The optical and mechanical quality of this lens is absolutely stunning. The small distortion at both ends of the zoom range is easily corrected and won't even be noticed in general use. Sharpness, contrast and colour are superb.
There is nothing to dislike. We might grumble about the weight, but then look what we are getting
If we were shopping for a consumer DSLR with an APS sensor (most DSLRs fit this description) we would consider buying body only and specifying this lens for the kit. You won't be able to brag about the 30X zoom and ignorant bystanders will sniff, but you...

In almost all cases, if you have regular need for a serious zoom lens, then yes. Unless you have a niche concern like image stabilisation for video, or need a longer focal range, the Sigma is a great replacement for your current walk-around zoom. The pric...
