  • Good build quality; very portable; decent controls; smaller than competing premium compacts; bright, sharp lens and display
  • Costs as much as a starter digital SLR with a standard lens
  • The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 is a compact and versatile camera that works well as a back-up for a dSLR, but it's too expensive....

  • Sharp images, decent lens, ease of use given the level of sophistication on offer, manageable dimensions, rock solid build, higher than average light sensitivity settings
  • Launch price overly expensive so shop around, Live View finder costs extra
  • A broader focal range and a cheaper price would make this non-interchangeable lens compact a potential world-beater. As it is, it's still hot stuff for those who enjoy pointing and shooting, but would like to raise their game at the same time...

  • Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-LX5 replaces the LX3 as the ultimate enthusiast compact, but at around £400 it’s not cheap. If the LX5’s excellent high ISO performance, great video mode and versatile 24-90mm lens sound attractive, it’s the best compact in town,...

  • The new Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX5 makes several improvements to the old flagship LUMIX DMC-LX3. It's an expensive product but its specifications look great. Campbell Simpson, PCWorld.idg.com.au ...

  • Initial impressions of the Panasonic LX5 are very promising indeed. This is a camera that anybody looking for a great compact that still delivers excellent results, can shoot in RAW, offers full manual control and all in a stylish body should do well...

  • When Panasonic announced the Lumix DMC-LX5, it mentioned the Canon PowerShot G11 numerous times as the camera’s direct competitor. Having now tested the LX5, the reason why is clear. Like the G11, the LX5 has a full range of manual-exposure controls, a...

  • Fast, Great image quality in any light, Sharp display, Lots of controls for manual shooting, Hot shoe and digital accessory port, Camcorder-like video experience,
  • Pricey, Bulky, LCD shows some motion blur,
  • The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 performs as well as the best compact cameras on the market, but its mirrorless competitors, in price and size, deliver even better performance. ...

  • Panasonic continues to improve their powerful line of LX-series compact digicams, with the latest addition being the Lumix DMC-LX5 (as of 2/2011). Competing in a tough category, the LX5 is in direct competition with Canon's PowerShot S90/S95 models, Sa...

  • Very good image quality with lots of detail, Well made and good looking exterior, Very fast and very reliable AF,
  • Annoying lens cap design, Dated interface, Cool WB tendency at default settings.
  • Without a doubt, like its predecessor, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 is one of the best compact cameras an enthusiast can buy. We have to say “one of the best” because there are several models now offering similar sensor/fast lens combinations, and all o...
