It’s been a great year for ruggedized cameras and we see Nikon’s AW100 as the capstone. Many of the features and technologies found throughout various companies’ many toughcam offerings have been brought together and–not quite perfected–but certainly ...
Looking much like a regular digital camera, the new Nikon Coolpix AW100 can withstand almost everything that life can throw at it, underwater, in the cold, from a moderate height, although it's not dust- or crush-proof like some rivals. The inclusion ...
Quality: average snapshot images. Why you'd buy the Nikon AMW100: you're out and about, wet and wild; the GPS function can be useful in your activities. Why you wouldn't buy the Nikon AW100: you may find the control buttons hard to locate when underwater.An...

Action control is useful. GPS updates with zero fuss. Great-quality HD video for a camera in this class
Very limited exposure control. Image detail falters at mid- to high-ISO levels

The Nikon goes up to the top of desirable indesctructibles, alongside the Canon Powershot D10 and Panasonic FT10. We took the camera to the Zoo, shooting in harsh contrasty light and were pleased with the auto exposure and the detail preserved in extreme...

while this is a camera of limited flexibility, and with some weaknesses in shooting capabilities, it's also a great little starter camera for someone wanting a gadget that can survive the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune (or a school backpack).Jo...
The Nikon Coolpix AW100 marries rugged good looks with good image quality. As with most rugged cameras, you have to work within trade-offs, the stronger zoom toggle offers less finesse than a standard compact camera's zoom nub, but it's sturdier. There ar...
